AIMS & OBJECTIVES OF ASLIP

The main Aims and objects for which the society is established are as under:-

1. To maintain social contacts amongst the retired/ retiring library information professionals.

2. To help and solve the problems of retired/ retiring library information professionals.

3. To regain the old glory of librarianship.

4. To promote reading habits amongst the community.

5. To rejuvenate the public library movement and provide help in enacting the library legislation in states/ UT’s where it has been enacted.

6. To help in the opening of new libraries/ information centres in concurrence with the New Education Policy (NEP).

7. To honour the retired library information professionals for their contributions.

8. To provide consultancy services to the institutions to develop their libraries.

9. To impart training to the young library professionals.

10. To maintain the database of retired library and information professionals.

11. To cooperate with learned institutions and interested bodies of the national and international level in the furtherance of these objectives.

12.  To issue appeals and application is for money and funds in the furtherance of the said objectives and to accept gifts, donations, subscription of cash and securities of any property movable or immovable.

13. The Association shall receive contribution/donation/grant/ aid from foreign countries also which will be in compliance with the foreign contributors regulation act to meet the objectives of the Association.

14. All the incomes, earnings, movable or immovable properties of the society shall be solely utilized and applied towards the promotion of its aims and objects only as set forth in the memorandum of association and no profit. There of shall be paid or transferred directly or indirectly by way of dividends, bonus, profits or in any manner whatsoever to the present or past members of the society or to any person claiming through anyone or more of the present or past members. No member of the society shall have any personal claim on any movable or immovable properties of the society or make any profits whatsoever by virtual of membership.

Note: The Association shall do all such things and performs all such acts which may be necessary or proper for the achievement of all or any of the aims and objectives either by itself or in association and cooperation with other organizations.
